Do I need a BAA or a long security review to use Medvient Recon?

Accepted Answer

Recon is designed to operate without PHI. Upload a pre-scrubbed CSV whenever possible; either way, before a file is analyzed it is scanned in your browser and detected patient-identifier columns are removed before anything reaches Recon's servers. Only de-identified financial and claim-pattern fields are transmitted, and every report opens with a timestamped Data Privacy Confirmation page for your compliance officer.

What file do I upload, and will it work with my practice management system?

One CSV export of your claims data — the same report your practice management or billing system already produces, set to the last 12 months. Each month, re-run the same saved report fresh: the window slides forward and every claim carries its current status, which keeps aged AR visible and stops counting claims that have since resolved. If your system can export claims to a spreadsheet, Recon can read it. You confirm the column mapping at upload, and the scan runs in about sixty seconds.

Does Medvient Recon file appeals or work the claims for me?

No — Recon fills the CFO seat, not another biller's chair. It shows your team exactly which claims to work, in what order, with an owner, a due date, and a first step for each. Your team does the work and keeps 100% of what it recovers. A platform for complex disputes and NSA federal arbitration filing — Medvient Defense — is coming soon as phase two of the suite.

What's the difference between Medvient Recon and Medvient Defense?

How fast do I see something useful?

What happens to my data after I upload?

Accepted Answer

Files are de-identified in the browser to the HIPAA Safe Harbor standard (45 C.F.R. § 164.514(b)(2)) before anything is transmitted — a format reviewed by outside HIPAA counsel. Patient identifiers, calendar dates, and claim numbers never leave the customer's computer; what reaches Recon is payer, service and diagnosis codes, dollar amounts, and coarse categories like year of service and aging buckets. The practice's own screen and PDF still show real claim numbers and dates — re-inserted from browser memory, never from Recon's servers. The de-identified data builds the report and tracks month-over-month trends for material-change alerts. Data is never sold or shared, and deletion can be requested at any time.

I already have a billing company. Do I still need Medvient Recon?

That's exactly when Recon is most useful. It's the scorecard, not the biller: each month your report shows what got fixed, what didn't, and what it cost, so you can hold your billing service accountable with numbers instead of gut feel — and good billing companies welcome it, because the same report proves the work they're doing right.

Do I have to sign a long-term contract?

No. Medvient Recon is month to month and you can cancel anytime — no lock-in and no contract to fight your way out of. Practices stay because it pays for itself: one scan finds the leak, but the monthly rhythm recovers it. Each report scores your team against the targets set in the prior one, and that accountability loop is where the money actually comes back.

Why does Medvient Recon have two prices?

Because there are two reports. The Full plan ($349 per provider per month) is the complete practice audit plus No Surprises Act screening — the gap to the payer's own QPA on out-of-network claims and their 30-day filing windows. The Practice Audit plan ($199) is everything except the NSA section. Dental and vision practices get the Practice Audit plan because federal NSA arbitration doesn't legally apply to standalone dental and vision plans. Medical practices can choose either; Practice Audit subscribers whose files contain NSA-eligible claims see how many were set aside — a count, never an invented dollar figure.

Does Medvient Recon take a cut of what I recover?

No. One flat subscription — no contingency, no percentage of recoveries, no hidden fees. Every dollar your team recovers is yours.

I'm not a physician — I'm a dentist / therapist / chiropractor. Can I use Medvient Recon?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Any provider billing insurance gets the full practice audit — denials, underpayments, AR aging, duplicate claims, and payer scorecards work the same whether the codes are CPT or CDT. Each specialty gets its own checks on top: dental (frequency limits, annual maximums, bundling, missing-tooth clause, attachments), therapy (visit limits, medical necessity, Medicare KX threshold), chiropractic (AT modifier, maintenance care), behavioral health (authorization clusters, visit limits with parity review), and optometry (routine-vs-medical plan routing, refraction non-coverage). The one difference is the No Surprises Act section: standalone dental and vision plans are excepted benefits under federal law, so NSA analysis is switched off for those claims with an explanation rather than showing arbitration math that doesn't legally apply. Care billed to a medical plan at a facility — hospital oral surgery, ER dental trauma, facility-based medical eye care — still gets full NSA screening when the file includes a Place of Service column. Pick your specialty at upload and the report calibrates itself.

My practice is small. Is Medvient Recon overkill?

Recon exists because of small practices. The big revenue cycle platforms want an IT project and a cut of your recoveries — they weren't built for a two-doctor office. Recon was: per-provider pricing, one CSV upload, and plain-language reports you can act on Monday morning.

Question 13

We're a group with multiple providers. Can Medvient Recon handle that?

Accepted Answer

Yes — that's Organization mode. One access code covers the whole group, and one combined claims upload produces an individual A to F scorecard for every provider, benchmarked against the rest of the group, plus rankings and an organization roll-up for leadership. Rankings reflect financial and operational revenue-cycle metrics only — never clinical quality. Licensing is per provider seat at a group discount, and if an upload covers more providers than licensed, the audit still runs in full with a note to true up the seat count.

What does an organization upload need that a single practice doesn't?

Accepted Answer

Just one thing: the combined CSV export needs a Provider Name and/or NPI column, which is how claims are split into per-provider scorecards. Those are business identifiers, not patient data — patient identifiers are still scrubbed in the browser before anything uploads, exactly like a single-practice scan. Claims missing a provider attribution still count in the organization roll-up; they are just excluded from individual scorecards.
